In August Rex travelled to Abilene, Texas, USA to partake in the Youth Bull Riders World Finals 2023. Rex thrived in the competition placing in the top 10 competitors in the U14 Steers. His highlight for the competition was going into the finals sitting in 4th position. In this round you get to choose your own stock. Rex chose the rankest bull in the pen and bucked off but I’m proud I gave it a go!
Rex started riding mini bulls at the end of 2020. His brother also rides mini bull and mum and dad supported us by taking us to rodeos to compete. My dad is an ex bull rider was a great mentor along with Jacob Carriage and Ben Bode that are CQ Locals currently on the Rodeo circuit in the USA. There experience and knowledge has been invaluable to get Rex to where he is today.
More recently in November, Rex took out the Great Northern Bullriding Services – 2023 Mini Champion and hopes to continue his winning rides in 2024. The Gladstone District Sports Foundation and Trust is proud support local talent competing on a National and International stage and can’t wait to see Rex’s achievements in 2024 and beyond.
