In September Gemma and her team mates from the Gladstone Gymnastics Club travel to the Gold Coast to compete at the National Clubs Carnival 2023 – WAG Gymnastics.
Gemma competed in the Level 6 WAG Competition representing Gladstone Gymnastics Club. This was a team event, consisting of six gymnasts and competing over two days. They placed 2nd on Beam, 4th on Vault, 6th on Floor and 6th Overall in the ‘A’ Division Category. It was a very tough judged comp and they did a fantastic job up against two of the Brisbane Metro clubs.
Gemma started about 6 years ago after a lot of pestering. She was always practicing moves on the trampoline and finally her parents caved in and let her join up. She hasn’t looked back and just loves gymnastics.
The highlight of the event this year was to be able to compete against the best of the best gymnasts across Australia in a team event representing Gladstone.
Whilst gymnastics requires a lot of work and training, Gemma has played touch football at a rep/club/school level and last year represented Capricornia in State Athletics. Gemma list her sporting hero as Simone Biles as she is an amazing gymnast and hopes to represent Australia in the future.
