In April a number of swimmers attend the Australian Age Championship at the Gold Coast. The Gladstone & District Sports Foundation Trust were able to support the efforts of several team members from Souths Swimming Club – Layla Gibson, Kayden Gibson, Ryan Asher and Joshua Platten. The squad achieve some great results and personal best times throughout the meet.
Layla Gibson
Competed in 3 events
100m Breaststroke – Finished 37th with a PB of 1.5 secs
50m Breaststroke – Finished 26th just over PB
200m Breaststroke – Finished 38th with a 0.7 sec PB

Ryan Asher

After 2 seasons of injury and illness Ryan was excited to qualify for the 3 x backstroke events for 15 year male. 50,100 and 200 backstroke.
50 backstroke I achieved a personal best time and finished 41st in the country.
100 backstroke I achieved a personal best time and finished 22nd in the country.
200 backstroke i achieved a personal best time and finished 20th in the country.
Joshua Platten
Josh achieved a personal best time in his pet event. He improved on his seeded position and achieved an overall achievement of 48th in Australia and with other international competitors. Josh also achieved the 15yr old club record and also the open club record for the 50m Breaststroke.
